CHRISTMAS SHOPPING 101: How to Shop Without the Drop

Christmas is coming! Christmas is coming! Well, in a couple of months… but trust us, that will go by in the blink of an eye. It can be a stressful time of year so we put together a few tips that will help you get a head start on your shopping and avoid the crowds.

MAKE A LIST (AND CHECK IT TWICE)

A little bit of planning can do wonders for your peace of mind. If you’re on a budget start by writing down a list of people you plan on buying gifts for, closely considering who should be on your list. Start with immediate family and close friends – don’t be afraid to trim a few acquaintances!

Next, brainstorm a few ideas for each person on your list in case you can’t find an item. This will make it easier to find a gift fast instead of running around for an impossible item to find.

SET A SPENDING LIMIT AND STICK TO IT

Start with a total amount you want to spend this holiday season. Divide it among each person on your list. Many people overspend on Christmas by letting their emotions get the best of them. An extra $10 here and there might not seem like a lot at the time but it will add up quickly.

Remember, it’s the thought that counts, not the price tag.

ORDER GIFTS ONLINE

Imagine a world where all your Christmas shopping was done in a few hours and you didn’t even leave the comforts of home. That’s the beauty of online shopping! Of course, you run the risk of items not arriving on time, BUT if you plan ahead and order well in advance, you’ll save yourself a stressful trip around town.

‘TIS THE SEASON TO GIVE

How many times does something cross your eye when you’re out shopping for others? It’s easy to get sidetracked and splurge when you know you shouldn’t. If you find something you can’t live without, add it to your Wishlist. If you don’t receive it, pick it up on sale on Boxing Day! Win-Win.

BE PROACTIVE

The early bird doesn’t just get the worm, it also gets deals and avoids the stress! The earlier you get your shopping done the happier you’ll be. If you proactively create a list, it will give you time to wait for items to go on sale AND you’ll beat those stressful crowds.

Happy Shopping!
